Body Building Ads

Horses for sale are often called”big barreled”, or “stocky”, or “built like a tank”. I gather that this is?
considered positive? Because of knee operations, I can’t grip well on a wide horse. Are some horses less wide, but still desirable? What proportions do you look for? Is the proportion the same as conformation, or is that just how the horse carries itself? In some ads, the horses legs don’t look like they are sturdy enough for its body. I plan to just ride western, or Australian saddle, trail riding. Thanks for your help!
I don’t find those descriptions desirable at all!
But It depends on the breed and what they will be used for.
If you have knee problems you definitely want a smooth gait as well as a smaller girth. An arab cross may suit you as some have wonderfully smooth gaits but from your description maybe you should try a Gaited breed such as the Peruvian Paso or Missouri Trotter.
